This article will provide more specific and detailed information regarding security measures that our players should take into consideration while playing SkyBlock on the network!
Playing SkyBlock should be fun and stress-free. This guide walks you through the most common security risks on the network and the simple steps you can take to keep your account, your items, and your computer safe.
Quick Safety Checklist
Only click links from the official Hypixel domains listed below.
- Turn on two-factor authentication (2FA) for your Microsoft account.
- Never enter your login on links claiming to be from Microsoft or Minecraft.
- Don't buy coins, items, or services from third-party sellers! It violates the rules and can result in your profile being wiped.
- Don't download "free" or "exclusive" mods from strangers or random YouTube videos.
- Only invite people you truly trust to your island.
- See someone breaking the rules? Use
/reportin-game.
Protect Your Microsoft Account
2FA adds a second step to your login, so even if someone gets your password, they can't get in without your phone. To set it up:
- Go to account.microsoft.com and sign in.
- Open Security → Advanced security options.
- Under "Ways to prove who you are," select Add a new way to sign in or verify.
- Choose Use an app and follow the steps to link an authenticator app.
- Make sure Two-step verification is turned on.
Use an authenticator app (like Microsoft Authenticator) rather than text or email codes, it's the most secure option.
Watch out for fake Microsoft & Minecraft links
Scammers often send emails, direct messages, or links that appear to come from Microsoft, Minecraft, or other trusted services. These messages may claim that your account needs to be verified, secured, or recovered due to a supposed issue. Their goal is to trick you into sending your password or OAuth code, granting them access to your account.
- Don't click "verify your account" links in unexpected emails or DMs.
- Instead, type the official address yourself: account.microsoft.com or minecraft.net.
- If a page asks you to log in after clicking a link, stop and check the web address carefully first.
Sketchy Links
What is a sketchy link? Links are used to direct you to another website. Some links lead to harmless ads. Others lead to sites built to steal your personal information or put your computer at risk.
If you don't recognize a link, don't click it.
Buying coins or any other service from these sellers is against our Rules and Terms of Service. Doing so will result in a punishment and may lead to your profile being wiped.
How to spot them
To protect our players, clickable links are usually blocked from showing in chat on our server. People who want to get around this filter will modify their links by adding spaces, swapping in special characters, or using other tricks to sneak them past the filter.
Please don't visit any websites or Discords that were shared by others. We cannot guarantee that these websites are safe to visit.
Links you can trust
Hypixel's official sites are linked below. Any site that is not one of these has no affiliation with Hypixel, even if it claims otherwise, and should not be trusted.
- hypixel.net
- store.hypixel.net
- support.hypixel.net
- status.hypixel.net
- wiki.hypixel.net
- api.hypixel.net
- rewards.hypixel.net
- plancke.io
Phishing
Phishing is when someone tries to trick you into handing over something valuable, usually by pretending to be a person or group you'd normally trust.
A common trick is a fake Discord invite sent over direct messages. These often look real because scammers use an image that mimics a genuine invite. Always double-check before clicking.

- We've seen an increase in fake Discord servers pretending to be the official Hypixel Discord. Always verify that you're joining the correct server and never share your Microsoft account credentials with anyone. The official Hypixel Discord bot will never request you to enter your Microsoft account details.
- Hypixel only has one official Discord server. If you need help joining it, please follow the instructions provided HERE to ensure you're connecting to the official Hypixel Discord.
Third-Party Modifications
If a mod isn't clearly listed on our Allowed Modifications Guide, we recommend against using it.
Be careful of anyone offering you a "free mod," giving away paid content, or asking you to "test" a mod for them. We strongly advise against downloading these, they can put both your computer and your Minecraft account at risk.
The same goes for mods linked in YouTube videos that promise to automate or exploit the game. The files in those descriptions are often malicious.
These harmful files can include:
- RATs (Remote Access Trojans) give an attacker control of your device, including your files.
- Session ID stealers, let attackers into your Minecraft, Discord, or other logged-in accounts without ever needing your password.
When in doubt, only download mods you've confirmed are on the Allowed Modifications Guide.
Co-op & Profiles
Anyone you invite to your SkyBlock island gets full access to all of your island's resources. A malicious player may try to trick you into an invite so they can take your items or coins.
Only invite people you already know and fully trust.
A few things to keep in mind:
- Inviting someone is your choice, so you're responsible for what your co-op members do.
- If you or a co-op member breaks our Rules or Terms of Service, it may lead to a loss of your SkyBlock progress.
- Adding someone to your co-op is simple, but unfortunately, removing them is a lot harder so choose your co-op partners carefully
